The NCOLCoE Instructor/Facilitator Certification process is designed to prepare Soldiers, Department of the Army Civilians (DACs), and authorized contractors for positions of responsibility as professional Army faculty and staff. Common Faculty Development – Instructor Course (CFD-IC):
This 2 week / 80-hour course prepares instructors to teach, train, and facilitate learning in an adult learning environment. Learners will be introduced to instructor roles and responsibilities, teaching and learning models, professional and ethical requirements, and classroom management techniques
Common Faculty Development – Developer Course (CFD-DC):
This 2 week / 80-hour course is designed to provide Army training and curriculum developers with the skills necessary to produce instructional products for institutional and operational training and education settings; it introduces the ADDIE model and the Accountable Instructional System (AIS).
Blackboard Basics 101 (BbBC):
The purpose of this course is to introduce new instructors to the Blackboard Learn interface and functionality. The course will demonstrate the most common ways Blackboard is utilized and provide practical instruction for developing an effective web-based course.
Instructor Observation Course (IOC) Blackboard:
This 2-day/10-hour course introduces the new Army Instructor Competencies and prepares participants to conduct instructor observations and provide feedback using the revised Instructor Observation Rubric (IOR).

Training and Education Middle Manager’s Course (TEDMMC):
TEDMMC is a 5-day / 40-hour course designed for those in mid-level management positions responsible for managing training and education products such as lesson plans, training support packages, courses, blocks of instruction, and training plans.
Senior Training and Education Manager’s Course (STEMC):
STEMC provides a practitioners overview of how HQ TRADOC supports centers and schools in terms of mission and function. The focus is on managing and integrating training development activities with capability, force, and materiel development. Management of integration and standardization systems are studied from the perspective of senior training development managers. EDMMC is a 5-day / 40-hour course designed for those in mid-level management positions responsible for managing training and education products such as lesson plans, training support packages, courses, blocks of instruction, and training plans.
Career Long Assessment Coaching Workshop:
The NCOLCoE Career Long Assessment (formerly Athena) Coaching Workshop is a 12‐hour workshop (delivered virtually over 3 days) that prepares Army Instructors/Facilitators to proctor the Athena assessments and conduct Coaching sessions in support of the Army Career Long Assessment Program. Participants will learn key Coaching principles that empower students to maximize their own potential and to develop a learner‐centered IDP.
Instructor Writer Course (IWC):
This 3-day/ 16- hour course ensures that participants can successfully revise a lesson plan. IWC was developed to provide an alternative to the CFD-DC/IDBC which is required for the Senior Army Instructor Badge (SAIB).
