Warrant Officer Class One Guyana, South America

Warrant Officer Class One William Richmond was born on 23 October, 1975 in Golden Grove on the east coast of Demerara, Guyana, South America. He attended Golden Grove Methodist school on the east coast of Demerara and Leeds Primary School in Corentyne Berbice. His secondary education was    obtained in the Secondary Department of the Golden Grove Methodist school. His military career began in September of 1991, when he joined the Guyana Defense Force as an apprentice. In 1993, he became a Private Soldier after successfully completing the basic recruit course.

During his 25-plus years in the Guyana Defense Force, he completed a  number of courses including the Junior Non-Commissioned Officers Course, Section Commanders Course, Platoon Sergeants Course, Drill Instructor Course, Skill at Arms Course, and the Senior Noncommissioned Officer Course. In 2014 he attended and successfully completed the Sergeants Major Course, Class 65 held at the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy at Fort Bliss Texas. He also held a number of    appointments within the Training Department of the force such as Syndicate       Instructor, for both the Recruit and the Cadet schools, School Sergeants Major for the Cadet School and Chief Instructor for the Drill Course of the Drill Wing. Other          appointments held include, Department Sergeant Major for the Music Department, Base Sergeant Major, and his present appointment, the Force Sergeant Major. 

His awards include the Military Efficiency Medal, the 25th Anniversary Medal, the 40th Anniversary Medal and the Fiftieth.

Force Sergeant Major Richmond is married to miss Collette Richmond and is blessed with four children: daughter Naomi, sons Donston, who is presently a Lance Corporal in the Guyana Defense Force serving in the Medical Department; Towalda, and Jared. His hobbies include lifting weights and watching comedy on television.
