Sergeant Major of the Swiss Army
Sergeant Major of the Army Pius Mueller was born on 9 May 1958 in Hagendorf, Canton of Solothurn. In 1978 he graduated his apprenticeship as a Forester in Hagendorf.
Sergeant Major Mueller completed his military education and training at the Recruit school as a Soldier of mounted infantry troops in 1978. In the same year he attended the training course for corporal, and in 1980 completed the training course for sergeant.
Sergeant Major Mueller joined the Swiss Armed Forces in 1983 by attending the basic training course for career NCO at the NCO Academy of the Swiss Armed Forces. From 1984 until 1993, he was in charge of leadership training for mountain infantry and infantry Soldiers and was also a class teacher at the infantry officer school. In 1996, he graduated as a sergeant major from the NCO Academy for the Swiss Armed Forces. From 1997 to 1999, he took charge as a class leader at the Inf RS 5/205. Between 1999 and 2000, he worked as a member of the planning team for Armed Forces XXI.
Sergeant Major Mueller was promoted to Sergeant Major of the Army in 2004 and worked as the Assistant to the Commander of the Military Security (Military Police) of Switzerland and in 2008 until he was assigned as the NCO to the Chief of the Armed Forces of Switzerland.
Sergeant Major Mueller was deployed from 1978 to 1980 at the Pontifical Swiss Guard in Rome, Italy. From 1981 to 1982 he was engaged at the Security Service in Geneva, Switzerland.
Sergeant Major Mueller’s hobbies include wind music, mass sport and house & garden. He is a member of the Liberal Democratic Party of Switzerland and President of district school Unterageri, Switzerland.
Sergeant Major Mueller is married to Lilian Mueller-Peier and together they have three children: Rolf, Joerg and Petra.
He is a graduate of Class 47 of the Sergeants Major Course.
