Sergeant Major of the Army Besik Khatiashvili

Sergeant Major of the Army Besik Khatiashvili was born in Tbilisi, Georgia in March of 1976 and joined the Georgian Armed Forces in November 1995.

SMA Khatiashvili’s military assignments include team leader, 2002; squad leader, 2003; Company First Sergeant, 2004; Battalion Command Sergeant Major, 2005; Command Sergeant Major of the National Training Center “KRTSANISI”, 2005; Brigade Command Sergeant Major, 2008; Command Sergeant Major of the NCO Academy, 2010; Command Sergeant Major of the Training and Military Education Command, 2012; SMA of the GAF, 2014; He is currently the Sergeant Major of the Army of the Western Command of the GAF.

SMA Khatiashvili initiated various changes into the GAF for Noncommissiond Officer development.

During his service, SMA Khatiashvili graduated from all levels of NCO Development courses; the Training and Equip Program; the NCO course of Transformation in Georgia 2008; Senior Leaders Course in Georgia 2011; Advanced Leader Course, U.S. Army in 2012; Senior Leader Course, U.S. Army in 2012; and the Sergeants Major Course, Class 67.

SMA Khatiashvili’s awards and decorations include the 3rd and the 2nd grade Medals for Outstanding service, the medal of the “Lion-Hearted”, and the medal of the “General Cholokashvili”.

SMA Khatiashvil is a graduate of the college of Geodesy and Cartography.
