CSM Salam B. Mustafa

Command Sergeant Major of the Jordanian Armed Forces Salem B. Mustafa was sworn in as the 2nd Sergeant Major of the Armed Forces on 13 April 2017. Salem has held every enlisted leadership position in the Infantry, from squad leader to Command Sergeant Major.
CSM Mustafa is the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the most senior enlisted service position in the Jordan Armed Forces. He is the Principal Military Advisor to the Chairman on all matters involving joint and combined total force integration, utilization, health of the force and joint development for enlisted personnel, on matters affecting the enlisted force. He devotes the majority of his time traveling throughout the Army to observe training anteracting with the Soldiers. He serves on variety of councils and boards that make decisions affecting enlisted Soldiers.
CSM Mustafa’s military education includes all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Education System. He is a graduate of Basic Leadership Course, Basic Infantry Course, Intermediate Leadership Course, Battle Staff Course, Advanced Leadership Course, First Sergeants Course, Light Weapons Course, Weapons Qualification Course, Regimental Sergeant Major Course, JAF Sergeant Major Course, and United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (Class 61). He also earned a bachelor’s degree in English Language and Translation from Amman Arab University.
His awards and decorations include: The Independence Medal; Military Merit Medal; King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein Medal of Excellence; Centennial of the great Arab revolt Medal; Participation in the Peacekeeping Forces Medal; Centennial of the establishment of the Jordanian state Medal; Army Distinguished Service Medal; Long Service and Good Conduct Medal; Administrative and Leadership Competence Ribbon; Administrative and Technical Proficiency Ribbon; and the Training Proficiency Ribbon.
Mustafa is married and has three children and lives in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
