Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Steven Parker is a native of Sunderland, England, and enlisted in the British Army in October 1996 as a Household Cavalryman.
He completed basic combat training at the Army Training Center Pirbright in 1996, before completing his armored cavalry training at the Armor Center in Bovington in 1997.
CSM Parker has served in every leadership position within his trade stream; serving as a tank crewmember, troop sergeant, troop leader, squadron sergeant major, regimental sergeant major, and command sergeant major.
CSM Parker's assignments in the United Kingdom were The Army Training Regiment Pirbright, Phase 2 training Bovington, The Household Cavalry Regiment Combermere Barracks, The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment Hyde Park Barracks, The Armored Trials, and Development Unit Bovington, The Household Cavalry Regiment Combermere Barracks, Headquarters Home Command Aldershot. Parker has conducted overseas assignments in Germany, Canada, France, Australia, and the United States of America. He has deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo, Macedonia, and Northern Ireland for combat and peacekeeping operations.
CSM Parker’s military and civilian education include but are not limited to Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance tracked Tank driver and gunner, the Brigade Reconnaissance Force course, the Late Entry Commission Assessment Board, Military Knowledge Joint Officer Training Course, NATO Secret course, Late Entry Officer Course, and the Defense Resilience United Kingdom Course. CSM Parker has completed all Command Leadership and Management courses in the British Army, achieving a Level 7 diploma in leadership and management from the chartered management institute. He is a graduate of the Sergeants Major Academy, Class 71, NCO Leadership Center of Excellence, Fort Bliss, Texas, USA.
CSM Parker’s awards and decorations include The NATO Medals for service on operations in Bosnia and Kosovo. The Golden and Diamond Jubilee Medals for service to the crown. The Operation Telic Medal for service in Iraq, the Long Service Good Conduct Medal for fifteen years of honorable service in the British Army, the Operation Herrick Medal for operational service in Afghanistan, Commander Home Command Citation for excellence, the Meritorious Service Medal for twenty-two years exemplary service. CSM Parker is also an honorary serving ambassador for his home city of Sunderland.
CSM Parker has been married and has two daughters.
