Command Sergeant Major Lee Gil Ho

Command Sgt. Maj. Lee Gil Ho is the Command Sergeant Major of the Combined Forces Command, Republic of Korea and Ground Component Command.  Born August 5, 1962 in Seoul, Republic of Korea, he joined the military in October 1983 and completed basic training at the 306th Replacement Training Center. He went on to the ROK Noncommissioned Officer Academy and enlisted as an infantryman.

Command Sgt. Maj. Lee has served in various assignments including the Fire Direction Calculator, 102nd Battalion, 1st Brigade, Tiger Division; Assault Company Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of Operations and Platoon leader, 79th Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division; Liaison NCO for the Eighth Army, 1st Signal Brigade, 18th Medical Command, 17th Aviation Brigade; Commandant and Drill Sergeant, Squad Leader Training Course, 8th Infantry Division; Noncommissioned Officer In Charge of the Pacific Army Chief of Staff Conference, Pacific Army Management Seminar Plan Group at the Republic of Korea Army Headquarters; First Sergeant, Headquarters and Headquarters Division, Capital Defense Command; Command Sergeant Major of the 3rd Battalion, 210th Regiment, 52nd Infantry Division;  and the Command Sergeant Major, 23rd and 28th Regiment of the Korea Army Training Center.

Command Sgt. Maj. Lee’s military education includes the Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, First Sergeant Course, Republic of Korea Army Noncommissioned Officer English Course Class 01, and the Ministry of National defense Human Rights Counseling Course. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Administrative Studies from Myeong Ji University, Seoul, South Korea.

Command Sgt. Maj. Lee’s ROK awards and decorations include citations at the Corps-, Division-, Regiment- and Battalion-Level; the Secretary of Defense Medal; Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Medal; Army Chief of Staff Medal; 1-4 Star Generals Medal; Korean War 40 Year Anniversary Medal; ROK Armed Forces Medal; Olympic Medal; Red Cross Medal; Platoon Leader Service Medal; 30-Year Service Medal and Badge; and the Command-Level CSM Medal and Badge. His U.S. Army awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Certificate of Appreciation from Eighth U.S. Army and U.S. Army Pacific Command and Commander of Camp Carroll; and was named an Honorary Citizenship of the City of El Paso, Texas.

     Command Sgt. Lee is married to Park Soon Aeh for 30 years. They have two daughters, Lee Jin Sun and Lee Won Bin.

Command Sgt. Maj. Lee is a graduate of the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, Sergeants Major Course, Class 59.
