Command Sergeant Major Damdinjav Enkhbayar
Lead Sergeant of the Forces of Mongolia
Command Sgt. Maj. Enkhbayar was born on 10 March, 1975 in Sukhbaatar Province of Mongolia. His father was an Army officer and his mother was a kindergarten teacher. He is the eldest of five children with two sisters and two brothers. He credits his parents for instilling in him all of the values he learned during his youth. He attended school between the ages of seven and 17.
Command Sgt. Maj. Enkyhbayar attended the Mongolian NCO academy in 1993. After graduating, he was posted to the 146th unit as a platoon sergeant and later assigned to the 150th peacekeeping battalion as an APC gunner in 1997 in the capitol of Mongolia. While assigned to the 150th unit, Command Sgt. Maj. Enkhbayar served in all NCO leadership positions to include squad leader, platoon sergeant and company sergeant. He attended the advanced NCO course at the NCO Academy of Mongolian Armed Forces in 2006 where he received instruction on the duties of a battalion-level NCO. After completing the advanced course he was appointed as a command sergeant major in unit 330, the peacekeeping battalion, Mongolian Armed Forces. During this time in his career he also served as a drill sergeant and peacekeeping operations instructor training deploying military personnel. Command Sgt. Maj. Enkhbayar is a graduate of the U.S. Marine Corps Staff NCO Academy in 2007.
Command Sgt. Maj. Enkhbayar’s operational experience includes: Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 and a deployment to Sierra Leone, Freetown in 2007.
His awards and decorations include the Warrior Honor Medal, the Distinguished Military Service Medal, the Polish Army Service Medal, the Military Honor Medal, the UN Peacekeeper Medal, and the Military specification degree. He also has the distinct honor of being recognized as the 2005-2008 marksmanship and Army shooting champion.
Command Sgt. Maj. Enkhbayar’s hobbies include riding horses, wolf hunting, collecting antiques. He is an avid follower of Mongolian national sports such as wrestling, archery, and horse racing. He also enjoys spending free time with his family.
Command Sgt. Maj. Enkhbayar is a graduate of Class 60 of the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Course.
