CSM Daniel T. Hendrex

Prior to his arrival to Fort Eustis, Virginia, as the Command Sergeant Major (CSM) of the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, CSM Hendrex served as the CSM, U.S. Army CENTCOM CJTF OIR for Iraq. CSM Hendrex held such prestigious positions as the CSM, III Corps, Fort Hood, Texas, and CSM, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia, and multiple positions of leadership at the command level throughout his career.
A native of Norman, Oklahoma, CSM Hendrex enlisted in the Army in 1990 and attended Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training as an Armor Crewman at Fort Knox, Kentucky. In addition to his recent tour in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel, he deployed to Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, Noble Eagle, Intrinsic Action, Joint Forge, Joint Guardian, Restore Hope, Desert Storm and Desert Shield. CSM Hendrex was decorated with the Bronze Star with Valor for his leadership during operations in Al Anbar, Iraq in 2004. He served in the 1st Armored, 3rd Infantry, 24th Infantry, and 10th Mountain Divisions; 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment; and the Asymmetric Warfare Group (AWG) both stateside and/or overseas; and as Squadron CSM in the AWG; Brigade CSM in 2/1AD; Director, NCOA Mission Command; CSM for CSTC-A; and Division CSM for 3rd Infantry Division. He participated in numerous rotations at NTC, JRTC, and CMTC throughout his career.
CSM Hendrex’ military and civilian education includes all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Education System and the Tank Master Gunner Course. He is a graduate of Class 57 of the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy and was selected as one of the first NCOs to serve in a fellowship on the Chief of Staff of the Army's Strategic Studies Group.
