International Military Students Explore American History and Culture in Texas

On Feb. 4, international military students from the Sergeants Major Academy (SGM-A) Class 75, along with their families, embarked on a three-day visit to San Antonio and Austin Texas, as part of the Field Studies Program (FSP). The program is an essential component of the Sergeants Major Academy’s curriculum for international students. It is designed to expose them to U.S. institutions, government processes and cultural heritage. Trips such as this one, serve as an opportunity for students to engage with American history, governance and military partnerships.

Secretary of Defense personally recognizes the heroic actions of Soldier

On 3 Feb. Master Sgt. Daniel Brooks was awarded the Soldier’s Medal for actions he took in Germany while participating in a public event in December of 2023. Brooks is currently attending the Sergeants Major Course at the NCO Leadership Center of Excellence on Fort Bliss, Texas.

Bringing Christmas joy to Children in El Paso, Texas

The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve has a 77-year history donating toys to less fortunate children. Maj. (Retired) Bill Hendricks is the father of the Toys for Tots program. In 1947, his wife, Diane, asked him to donate a few hand-crafted dolls to children who may be forgotten during Christmas. Upon hearing that no organization existed that helped these children, she encouraged her husband to start one. That first year, over 5,000 toys were collected and given to underprivileged children in the Los Angeles area.

On Dec. 10th, Command Sgt. Maj. Jimmy Sellers, the senior enlisted advisor for U.S. Army Materiel Command, visited the NCO Leadership Center of Excellence (NCOLCoE) and Sergeants Major Academy (SGM-A) Class 75 where he spoke to students and answered questions posed by members of the class.
