He also led the effort to establish the BNCOC Distance Learning team which developed and implemented the strategy which later became the BNCOC Common Core NCOES course for the Army.

In 2008, Sgt. Maj. Wells assumed the duties and responsibilities as the Headquarters Department of the Army G-3/5/7 Sergeant Major. Here he served as the senior enlisted advisor for three Army G-3s and provided counsel to two Sergeants Major of the Army. He was instrumental in the development and activation of the Army’s web-based Structured Self Development Courses for enlisted leadership development; implementation of the Army’s revised Warrior Leader Course; established the concept and oversaw implementation of the One Army School concept; instituted multi-component Warrior Leader Course for the forward deployed elements; developed the concept which implemented Warrior Leader Course training for the Jordanian Army; and oversaw the implantation of digital deployable classrooms which enhanced the deployable Military Training Team’s abilities to conduct NCOES at the Warrior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, and Senior Leader Course levels for 21 different Military Occupational Specialties enhancing the Army’s ability to train through ARFORGEN.

Sgt. Maj. Wells’ dedication to the success of the Army’s Enlisted Professional Military Education System was always at the forefront as he worked with USASMA, CAC, TRADOC, Headquarters Department of the Army’s Training Directorate, and the Army G6 CIO to ensure Structured Self Development Courses could be accessed and utilized by Soldiers CONUS, OCONUS, and around the world under deployed and non-deployed circumstances.
