Command Sergeant Major Donald Collier hails from Tupelo, Mississippi. He entered the Army in 2002 and graduated from Initial Entry Training in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri as an Engineer. Throughout his career, he served in every leadership position to include Team Leader, Squad Leader, Drill Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, and Command Sergeant Major. He served as the Brigade Command Sergeant Major of the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division (Devil Brigade) in Fort Riley, KS.  He’s currently the Deputy Commandant for the NCO Leadership Center of Excellence in Fort Bliss, Texas.

CSM Collier’s assignments include Alpha Company, 62nd Engineer Battalion (Combat Heavy) in Fort Hood, TX; 523rd Engineer Company, 84th Engineer Battalion in Schofield Barracks, HI; Alpha Company, 31st Engineer Battalion (OSUT), 1st Engineer Brigade in Fort Leonard Wood, MO; 41st Clearance Company, 1st Engineer Battalion in Fort Riley, KS; 62nd Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade in Fort Hood, TX; 8th Military Police Brigade, 8th Theater Sustainment Command in Schofield Barracks, HI; 554th Engineer Battalion, 1st Engineer Brigade; 31st Engineer Battalion (OSUT), 1st Engineer Brigade in Fort Leonard Wood, MO; 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division in Fort Riley, KS and NCO Leadership Center of Excellence in Fort Bliss, TX.

CSM Collier served in two combat deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Those deployments included Baghdad from 2005-2006 and Mosul from 2008-2009.

CSM Collier completed all levels of NCOES and graduated from the Sergeants Major Academy, Class 70. He possesses a Bachelor of Science in History and Master of Arts in International Relations from Norwich University. Most recently, he completed the University of Louisville’s Strategic Broadening Seminar at the University’s McConnell Center in 2022.

His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (three oak leaf clusters), Army Commendation Medals (three oak leaf clusters), Army Achievement Medal (three oak leaf clusters), Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral Five, Iraqi Campaign Medal with 2 Campaign Stars, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. CSM Collier is also a recipient of the Order of the St. George (Silver), Order of the de Fleury (Bronze), the Order of the Spur (Gold), and the Sergeant Audie Murphy Award.

CSM Collier is married to JoHanna Collier from Texas. They have three children named Joseph, Marilyn, and Amber.
