Sergeant Major of the Army Singapore Armed Forces

Chief Warrant Officer Teo See Keong joined the Singapore Armed Forces as a Guards Leader in April 1985 and has served in numerous organizations throughout his illustrious career.

CWO Teo was appointed the Sergeant Major of the Army on 16 August 2016. This is the pinnacle Warrant Officer appointment in the Singapore Army. During his service in the organization, CWO Teo has served in various key appointments such as Regimental Sergeant Major of 3rd Battalion, Singapore Guards; Intelligence Warrant Officer in Headquarters Guards; Officer Commanding in the School of Infantry Specialists; the 7th Singapore Infantry Brigade Sergeant Major, Directing Staff in SAFWOS; and Formation Sergeant Major, Headquarters Guards.

CWO Teo is a key figure in steering the development of the Singapore Army’s Warrant Officers, Specialists and enlistees, as well as the Army’s Military Experts. He continues to place emphasis on strengthening the Army ground leadership by shaping a strong Officer-Warrant Officer partnership. He further anchored the roles of Warrant Officer and Specialist (noncommissioned officers) as warfighters, trainers and leaders, who take responsibility over training; deepening knowledge and skills; leading and managing Warrant Officers, Specialists and enlistees; and enforcing regimentation and discipline.

Chief Warrant Officer Teo’s distinguished list of awards is a testament to the stellar performance in the Singapore Armed Forces. He has received, among others, the State Medal for the Military (Efficiency Medal), the SAF Long Service Award (30 Years), the UN Medal in East Timor, the SAF Overseas Service Medal, and the Humanitarian Assistance Disaster Relief Medal in Indonesia.

CWO Teo’s military and civilian education includes the U.S. Army Pathfinder Course, United Nations Junior Officer Course (Sweden), U.S. Army Sergeant Major Course, GKS Command and Staff College Course (Executive) and several other professional leadership and development courses. He has attained a Specialist Diploma in Learning Science.

CWO Teo is happily married to his wife, Ms Tan Wan Peng, and together they have three children; Valerie, Wilfred and Alfred.

CWO Teo is a graduate of Class 58 of the United States Army Sergeants Major Course.
