Sergeant Major of the Taiwan Army

Sergeant Major of the Army Chuang was appointed as the 2nd Sergeant Major of the Army on 1 March 2010. He has held a variety of leadership positions throughout his career from tank commander to Command Sergeant Major.

As Sergeant Major of the Army, Sergeant Major Chuang is the senior enlisted member in the Army of Taiwan. He provides directions to the enlisted force through the NCO support channel. He serves as the personal advisor to the Commanding General on all enlisted issues.

Sergeant Major Chuang was born on 14 October 1969 in Kao-shiung, Taiwan. He entered the Army in Tai-Ping Initial Entry Training Center in September 1990 and attended the Armor School, Hsin-Chu County and graduated as tank commander.

Sergeant Major Chuang served in numerous positions including tank commander, 292nd Infantry Division; platoon sergeant 292nd, 284th Infantry Division, and 249th Mechanized Infantry Brigade. He served as First Sergeant in the 249th, 351st Mechanized Infantry Brigade, and 118th Infantry Brigade. He served as Command Sergeant Major in the 564th and 542nd Armored Brigades. Sergeant Major Chuang was assigned as G1 Sergeant Major, Army Command Headquarters in January 2007.

His military and civilian education includes BNCOC, ANCOC, Basic Instructor Training, Sergeant Major Course, and Command Sergeant Major Course. He holds an Associate Degree in Business Administration from the Army 2-year college program.

Sergeant Major Chuang married Shi-Yun Peng in 1998 and together they have two sons: Yen-Chi and Ting-Cheng.

He is a graduate of Class 54 of the Sergeants Major Course.
